Katya is an illustrator and a rug maker currently living  and working in East London.

She creates playful poetic illustrations influenced by surrealism and symbolism. Through her work she explores the spontaneity and unpredictability of materials whilst navigating the idea of the subconscious and the otherworldly. Common threads and themes in her work are the abstraction of the human form, everyday objects and

introspection.

In the past year she has branched out into rug making as an extension of her illustration practice and to experiment with creating work in a more tactile form. Through this medium she has been playing with the use of perspective and abstraction. As well as using the rug making process to make pieces for the floor and wall she also creates designs to reupholster and upcycle furniture with.

Collaborations so far include Mondo Brewery and streetwear company SCRT and various album covers.
