Katya Rogers (b.1997, Eastbourne) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in East London. Being led by process and creating tactile pieces, Katya explores the concepts of dissociation and introspection. Working primarily with the mediums of textiles and metal casting, she is influenced by her surroundings of East London, Isle of Dogs and the Thames.
Through her work the artist explores feelings of isolation and being torn between different avenues. She includes cartoonish characters to transform negative emotions into more of a playful outlet; juxtaposing a sense of disconnection and solitude. Katya creates the compositions for her artwork using the method of Automatic Drawing; a technique used by the Surrealists as a way to tap into ones subconscious self.
